Eneract is a volunteer-driven organization.
We are committed to providing an enriching experience for all our
volunteers and make every possible effort to provide training and
support.
There are a number of ways to get involved with
us.
There are four great committees that need your
help.
a. The Outreach and Communications committee
is looking for three (3) individuals to serve a minimum one-year
term on the committee.
Duties of the committee include:
- Market and publicize Eneract, its projects
and activities. This involved, but is not limited to:
- Overseeing website development and
- Overseeing newsletter (electronic and
print) publication.
- Help develop and implement Eneract’s
communications plan;
- Co-ordinate Eneract’s attendance
at community events;
- Co-ordinate, with the Membership &
Volunteer Committee, volunteer participation at these events;
Skills required include:
- Prior experience in marketing and communications
- Team worker
- Prior experience in publishing and graphic
design is an asset
Time requirement: varies.
Minimum 5 hours per month.
b. The Membership and Volunteer Committee
needs two (2) individuals to serve a minimum one-year term on
the committee.
Duties of the committee include:
- Co-ordinate membership recruitment and
development programs and plans;
- Work with Events Committee to organize
bi-annual membership events;
- Co-ordinate volunteer recruitment and
orientation;
- Develop and manage a membership and volunteer
fulfillment plan;
- Co-ordinate recruitment for the Board
of Directors, as necessary;
- Co-ordinate orientation for new Board
members;
- Co-ordinate with the Outreach & Communications
Committee for volunteer attendance at public events and for
contents for the newsletter.
Skills required include:
- Experience with human resources or volunteer
management is an asset
- Ideas or experience on engaging members
- Coordination skills
- Multitasking
- Detail oriented
Time requirement: varies.
On average 5 – 7 hours per month.
c. The Policy Committee needs
three (3) individuals to serve a minimum one-year term on the
committee.
Duties of the committee include:
- Review current issues that relate to Eneract’s
mandate and recommend positions/actions to the Board;
- Be responsible for responding to said
issues as directed by the Board, including organizing press
conferences, news advisories, etc;
- Track programs being planned or currently
underway in other organizations to avoid duplication of efforts
and to highlight possibilities for partnerships;
Skills required include:
- Interest in energy issues and desire to
take (and inspire) action
- Experience with similar roles an asset
Time requirement: varies.
Minimum 5 hours per month.
3. Volunteer with
our one of our programs.
a. Smart Steps, Simple Solutions program
If you are interested in helping us get the
energy conservation message across to ethnic communities in the
Toronto area, please contact us immediately for more information.
Specifically, as a volunteer you can help Eneract
to:
- Identify community media agencies;
- Identify issues that affect your community;
- Identify potential for positive behavioural
change within your community;
- Implement a media plan within your
community. The media plan will include the following:
- Opinion Editorials
- Articles in local community papers
- Letters of the Editor
- Print advertisements
- Radio/TV Public Service Announcements
- Subway/Recycle bin advertisements
- Radio/TV Interviews.
- Lead workshops with community groups;
- Translate materials into target languages
and
- Other activities as identified in
focus sessions.
