Green Convergence:
The future of sustainable community
development.
The concept behind Green Convergence is
simple: to provide a space where students can help implement sustainability,
non-profit organisations (NPOs) can work sustainably, the community can recreate
sustainably, businesses and artists can showcase sustainability and governmental
agencies can support sustainability. Green Convergence
follows a holistic path and engages all sectors of the community
- non-profit organizations, businesses, artists, the media and the public.
It will provide studios and exhibition space for artists; recreational
space for the community; office space for non-profits; retail space
for green businesses; floating space for ad hoc projects, and much
more.
The benefits of this space are numerous. Those
who interact with it will be able to say that they have worked,
lived and played in a truly sustainable, community space. NPOs will
be able to lower their operating costs through low rental rates
and shared services. Green business will be able to situate themselves
in a space shared by a variety of stakeholders, opening the way
to innovative partnerships and synergetic relationships. And, of
course, the marketing value of living and working in such a space
is immense.
The end result is a microcosm of a new societal
model that does not cost the earth.
