Energy Conservation group calls on government to end information blackout on Toronto’s ethnic communities

Launches Smart Steps, Simple Solutions public information program

( Toronto ) Tomorrow morning, energy conservation group Eneract will launch - Smart Steps, Simple Solutions - a groundbreaking education program that teaches people about the simple things that they can do to reduce their energy usage - both at home and on the road.  

The Diversity component of the program is the first of its kind to target Toronto 's ethnic communities with an energy conservation message using workshops, translated fact sheets and the Smart Living website (www.smartliving.ca).  

Joining Eneract will be Toronto City Councillor Olivia Chow and representatives of Toronto 's West Indian and Portuguese communities among others.

The Bright Pearl Restaurant at 346-348 Spadina Ave on the 3rd floor (on Spadina, 2 blocks north of Dundas)  

Eneract will call on all levels of government to do a better job at educating the culturally diverse public on energy conservation so that crises like the recent blackout can be avoided in the future.  

There will be demonstrations on the use of important water conservation kits, window insulation kits and energy saving light bulbs.
