GREEN GIFTS FOR THE HOLIDAYS
EnerACT's annual Green Gifts guide is the perfect tool for finding gifts that reduce the environmental and social impact of your gift giving.
Always keep in mind that the best gift is one that uses
the least resources. So write a letter, sing a song,
promise to paint a wall, help install their new fluorescent
fixtures or programmable thermostat or cook them dinner. How about making something? (but please, guys and gals, no cheesy gifts or I'm sending them right back!)
There are lots of great ideas for a homemade gift. Here's one: combine equal portions of cloves and whole, dried allspice berries. Place 2 tablespoons of the mixture into the middle of a small square of cheese cloth along with 1/2 a tablespoon of ground nutmeg. Tie the top of the bundle along with two sticks of cinnamon - a perfect package for mulling 6 cups of cider! Package it in a reusable container, write the instructions (1 unopened package in 6 cups of cider, heat gently) on a card and ... voila!
If mulling spices don't tickle your fancy, click here to download a printer-friendly version of the Green Gifts fact sheet!
Remember: be mindful of your purchases. Make the move to smartliving.

4. VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT: OLENA SULLIVAN
NAME: Olena Sullivan | New Mediatrix
OCCUPATION: Graphic Designer
WEBSITE: www.olena.ca
Olena has been a volunteer with EnerACT since early in 2003. She has graciously offered her skill and time as part of the team that is bringing you the sexy, new EnerACT that you see before your eyes.
Olena, a Toronto-based graphic designer, runs New Mediatrix, an east-end graphic design firm specializing in full-service new media. Her clients, ranging from entrepreneurs to medium-sized businesses, often come to her looking for a complete package of services – from print to web. From authors looking for a book design, to a new business looking for a complete identity package and website, Olena’s 13 years of graphic design experience give her the experience to provide creative solutions to projects of any size.
According to Olena, she volunteers with EnerACT because the principles and activities that the organization promotes resonates with her and she has continued to donate her time and skills with both print and web support. projects page of our website to learn more about our current and previous projects.
