Project Coordinator, Sustainable St. Lawrence

Introduction

Eneract is a not-for-profit organization that delivers innovative solutions to environmental problems and builds capacity in communities to work towards a sustainable future. Founded in 1988, Eneract has a long history of innovation. Sustainable St. Lawrence is one of those: a collaborative partnership with the St. Lawrence Neighbourhood Association (SLNA) that seeks:

1. To foster a culture of conservation in the St. Lawrence neighbourhood and thus foster a healthy environment; and
2. To work with residents and businesses to create a strong economy and vibrant community.

Eneract invites applications for the full-time position of Project Coordinator (Sustainable St. Lawrence). This is a one-year contract with the possibility of extension up to 18 months (or more, depending on our fundraising success). We seek a grounded and experienced professional to take the reins of one of the most innovative community sustainability programs ever implemented in Toronto - one that will also prove challenging to implement. The successful candidate must possess the attributes necessary to make this project a resounding success.

The Project Coordinator will be part of a small team of employees working with a large volunteer base to demonstrate best-practices solutions to pressing environmental problems. Some evening and weekend work will be required.

Responsibilities:

The Project Coordinator (Sustainable St. Lawrence) will work with staff and volunteers to implement all aspects of the Sustainable St. Lawrence project. Specifically, the Project Coordinator will:

  • Fundraising & finances:

  • - Support fundraising and the development of corporate sponsorships

    - Manage reporting to funders

    - Manage the project budget in collaboration with the Executive Director

  • Partnership development:

  • - Work closely with project partners to plan and implement the SSL workplan;

    - Develop and nurture new strategic alliances

  • Marketing & communications:

  • - Manage the development of a project brand and communications plan;

    - Lead outreach to community stakeholders and media

  • Volunteers: Recruit, orient and manage project volunteers

  • Evaluation: Manage project evaluation

  • Administration:

  • - Provide administrative support to the SSL steering committee;

    - Provide regular reports to the Executive Director and steering committee.

  • Other duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Exceptional project management skills

  • Ability to work independently

  • Strong communication skills

  • Relevant experience in community development/environment

  • Experience with recruiting and managing volunteers

  • Comfortable with public speaking/presentations

  • Strong leadership experience in a multi-stakeholder environment

  • Experience with corporate sponsorships an asset

  • Experience in fundraising is an asset

Reports to: Executive Director

Compensation: $42,500-$45,000/year plus benefits
